Help finish Malaysia’s map.

Malaysia’s road map isn’t complete, not even close. Every place, toll lane and fare you add makes it better for every driver, and it is meant to belong to all of us.

Five ways, all in the app

  1. Add a missing place

A new shop, a warung, a mall entrance. Search for it, and when Bound can’t find it, tap Add a missing place. It’s also under Profile & settings.

  2. Report a closed shop

Open the place and report it from its card: closed for good, or closed for renovation. When two drivers report the same closure, everyone sees it.

  3. Share your toll fare

Tell Bound what you actually paid at a plaza, so every driver sees the real cost before choosing a route.

  4. Map the toll lanes

Which lanes take Touch ’n Go, MyRFID or SmartTAG. It’s what lets Bound point you to the right lane before the plaza.

  5. Flag road hazards

Floods, accidents, police, a blocked lane. Report it while it’s safe, and drivers behind you are warned.

What happens to what you add

  1. It’s checked. Automatic checks first, then a person for anything they can’t confirm, so spam and mistakes don’t reach the map.
  2. It goes live for every Bound driver. Once Bound learns a place, it never has to learn it again.
  3. Places can go to OpenStreetMap. If you turn on “Also add it to OpenStreetMap”, the place is shared there under its open licence, where every map app can use it. It’s off unless you choose it, because that can’t be taken back.
  4. Toll lanes and fares become open data. Bound plans to publish what drivers share about tolls as an open dataset, free for the whole country to use. Not Google’s, not even ours.

What we don’t take

A place you add is about the place, not about you: its name, its kind and where it is. There is no account, so nothing ties it to your name, and the code your phone uses to send it is deleted once the suggestion is decided. Nothing about you goes to OpenStreetMap. The privacy policy has the details.

Build Bound with us

  • Mappers

Already editing OpenStreetMap in Malaysia? We’d love your eye on what drivers send.

  • Developers

Search, routing, mobile and servers. There is more to build than one person can.

  • Translators

Bahasa Melayu first, then Chinese and Tamil, for the app and its voice.

  • Road and toll operators

Lane layouts, fares and closures, straight from the source.

Can’t contribute data?

Bound costs money to run every month. Supporting Bound keeps it free and independent, and telling a friend who drives helps too.
